Comment on Krugman's "Faust on the Potomac"
I wrote this (below), commenting on Paul Krugman's excellent op-ed entitled: "Faust on the Potomac" in the NYT today.

Mr. Krugman, once again, thank you for this. Mr. Wolff’s book is nothing more than a continuation of the red herring nonsense that distracted us from the tidal wave of political misfeasance that resulted in a Republican takeover of our government in 2016. And although the antics of Mr. Trump’s farcical administration are hard to look away from, it’s high time that we focus our scrutiny on the depredations of the Republican Party itself - its contemptible tactics and its regressive policies.
How has the GOP won in states with Democratic majorities? They cheated with voter suppression laws that prevent American citizens from voting. How has the GOP taken over control of state legislatures? They cheated with intense gerrymandering. How has the GOP managed to elect unqualified candidates who will vote without hesitation for legislation that they don’t even bother to read? They cheated by accepting unlimited campaign contributions in exchange for passing legislation that will only benefit their wealthy donors.
This party’s historical misfeasance comes with a sneer as it nominates the likes of Roy Moore and Donald Trump.
It's time we ask: Why did the GOP agree to soften its policy on sanctions against Russia before Trump was even elected? And why has the Republican Party obstructed the investigations into the Russian interference of the 2016 election? Is it because the only way Republicans win elections is if they cheat?
