Firing Mueller

Firing Mueller

I’m sitting here thinking about the likelihood that Trump fires Robert Mueller before January 1 and whether the country would even notice. We need a break from the unremitting anxiety this thug has inflicted on us for the last year and a half, and unwrapping presents and enjoying family is a much needed distraction. And then I read this article by Perry Bacon Jr. :https://fivethirtyeight.com/…/the-goals-of-the-gops-anti-…/…

Maybe Trump will go all Gotti after signing of the Republican tax legislation and impulsively fire Mueller simply because his omnipotence is newly affirmed. Certainly, delay of gratification is not his strong suit. Nor is strategic thinking, for that matter. But maybe it’s possible that he’s increasingly listening to GOP strategists instead of only consulting himself these days.

If he chooses to play the long game and hold his fire, I wonder what the good guys will do. I wonder if our unremitting anxiety will morph into quiescence.
